After completing her Masters in Public Health (MPH) from Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Akhila wanted to follow her passion of working for women and children, and found that the Social Impact Trainee (SIT) programme by ARMMAN gave her the kickstart she needed. “I am gaining hands-on experience in maternal and child health programmes implemented by ARMMAN that leverage technology to address health challenges,” she says.
Recalling her journey, Akhila says, “My inspiration to pursue a career in public health and maternal and child health (PH & MCH) came from a deep-seated desire to make a tangible difference in people’s lives. Seeing the struggles of vulnerable mothers and children drove me to focus on impactful healthcare interventions.”
Currently, as an SIT, Akhila is part of the Kilkari and Mobile Academy programme team supporting various tasks for smooth implementation including making presentations, reports, documentation, field visits, and supporting the team in new initiatives.
The Social Impact Trainee (SIT) programme, launched in 2022, aims to provide talented fresh graduates with hands-on experience in ARMMAN’s initiatives. During the three-month orientation, trainees are immersed in various programmes across the organization. Upon completion of the training, the SITs may be considered for placement into different roles within ARMMAN.
