ARMMAN

Artificial Intelligence Powered Support in local language for Nurses in Nandurbar

WhatsApp-based support tool for Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs) has now been rolled out in Nandurbar, Maharashtra. Available in Marathi, the local language, this Artificial Intelligence (AI)-powered tool makes critical, clinically validated guidance easier for frontline health workers to access and use in real time.

Nandurbar is an aspirational district with unique challenges, including high migration, difficult terrain, limited access to health services, and low literacy levels—factors that contribute to poor maternal and child health outcomes. To address these barriers, we are training health workers to identify, manage, and refer high-risk pregnancies, strengthening the continuum of care for pregnant women and new mothers.

As part of ARMMAN’s Integrated High-Risk Pregnancy Tracking and Management (IHRPTM) programme, the WhatsApp chatbot provides ANMs with real-time, on-the-job support and clinically validated guidance for managing high-risk pregnancies. The tool is already supporting health workers in Uttar Pradesh and Telangana, with assistance available in Hindi, English, and Telugu.Click here to learn more about how we are using innovation and AI to strengthen frontline maternal and child health care on our Innovation page.
