Kilkari and Mobile Academy Expand to 3 New States

We are thrilled to announce the expansion of Kilkari and Mobile Academy (KMA) programmes in Karnataka, Goa, Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu, taking the reach of the programmes to 23 States and Union Territories in India. ARMMAN implements KMA in partnership with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), Government of India.

The programmes were launched in the three States/ Union Territories (UTs) at the ‘National Workshop on Kilkari and Mobile Academy’ in Delhi, hosted by the MoHFW in collaboration with ARMMAN. The workshop aimed at reviewing the progress of the Kilkari and Mobile Academy programmes and sharing best practices, innovations and pilots adopted by different states to enhance the effectiveness of the KMA programmes towards improving maternal and child health outcomes in India. Senior officials from various departments of MoHFW and members from senior management of ARMMAN graced the occasion.

The event saw ASHAs from Delhi and Haryana share their experience of the Mobile Academy course highlighting how it has improved their knowledge and confidence,  enabling them to better support pregnant women, new mothers, and their children. The guidance from the course helped them encourage women and their families to adopt healthier practices, especially during pregnancy and infancy.

The Kilkari and Mobile Academy programmes were launched as a part of the Digital India initiative in 2015. Initially covering six states and two languages, Kilkari has now expanded to 23 states and is available in 10 languages, while the Mobile Academy programme is being implemented in 17 States in five languages.
