Armman

ARMMAN leverages technology to create cost-effective, scalable solutions that empower mothers enabling them to make healthier choices for themselves and their children, while strengthening the health system to deliver quality services, towards reducing maternal and child mortality and morbidity.

Our interventions follow gender-transformative and equity-based approaches to reach the most vulnerable women, families, and communities.

OUR APPROACH

An INFORMED AND EMPOWERED WOMAN will:

  • adopt better health behaviours,
  • proactively anticipate problems,
  • decipher danger signs, and
  • seek timely care.
Adequately skilled, trained, and empowered FRONTLINE HEALTH WORKERS will:
  • challenge existing power asymmetries,
  • navigate gender dynamics effectively,
  • provide better support to women, and
  • reinforce women’s pursuit of timely care.

This, in turn, will lower the burden on the tertiary care system, further improving the functioning of the public health system, and enabling a reduction in maternal and child mortality and morbidity.

ARMMAN uses a ‘fit for purpose’ approach by using mHealth, to create scalable, cost-effective, nuanced and impactful programmes. In this framework, women at low risk receive comprehensive content—utilising voice calls for those with feature phones and WhatsApp for smartphone users.

On the other hand, women at high risk or those with the greatest disadvantages, marked by limited equity, receive more tailored content with enhanced support through interactive two-way communication.

We design user-centric interventions with a ground-up approach, taking into account the limitations of the women we serve and integrating their voices through needs assessment, field-testing and feedback loops.
