Dr. Aparna Hegde
Urogynecologist, Researcher, Social entrepreneur, Founder and Managing Trustee, ARMMAN
During her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Sion hospital in Mumbai, Dr. Aparna Hegde witnessed how pervasive systemic problems in the provision of health care led to maternal and child deaths that were preventable. Unable to accept the status quo, she founded ARMMAN (Advancing Reduction in Mortality and Morbidity of Mothers, Children and Neonates; www.armman.org), a non-profit dedicated to designing cost-effective solutions at scale for complex health care problems. She conceptualized the four projects of ARMMAN; mMitra (with customized malnutrition and HIV-AIDS programs), HERO (Helpline for Emergency Response Operations), Arogya Sakhi home-based care and the Mother and Child High-Risk Factor Tracking system. ARMMAN’s programs make innovative use of technology to create cost-effective programs that find the right balance between the depth of impact and scale and have already impacted more than a million lives.
Dr. Hegde is also India’s leading urogynecologist and pelvic floor reconstructive surgeon with a master’s degree from Stanford University and IUGA (International Urogynecological Association) International Fellowship in Urogynecology and Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery from Cleveland Clinic Florida. She is the Founder and Director of the Center for Urogynecology and Pelvic Health (C.U.P) in New Delhi, a first-of-its-kind, clinical and academic international center of excellence in the field of Urogynecology and pelvic reconstructive surgery in the country.
An accomplished researcher in her field, she has multiple national and international research awards including one of the best paper awards at the 2013 American Urogynecological Society (AUGS) Annual meeting and has more than 74 abstracts and publications in peer-reviewed national and international journals. She is an internationally recognized pioneer in the field of 2D and 3D ultrasound of the pelvic floor and is routinely invited as an expert to national and international conferences including IUGA and AUGS annual meetings. She is a member of the Editorial Board of International Urogynecology Journal (IUJ) and member of the Education Committee of the IUGA.
In recognition of her work, she was awarded the Ganatra award for social work by the Mumbai Obstetrics and Gynecological Society for the year 2013, the Prerak fellowship by IIM Lucknow for the year 2014, the Digital Woman Entrepreneur award in 2015 and the Mother Teresa Social Leadership Fellowship in 2016. She was one of the five global women leaders featured in the Voice of America Documentary, ‘A Single Step: Journeys of Women Leaders” narrated by Academy award winning actress, Sally Field in 2015. She was also a featured speaker in the TEDx Gateway event in 2014. Project mMitra was awarded the People’s Choice award at the Saving Lives at Birth event in Washington DC in 2011 and was a finalist at the mBillionth Award for South Asia in 2014. ARMMAN’s Arogya Sakhi home based care project was a finalist at the mBillionth Award for South Asia in 2015.

Srinivaas comes from a business family having hands on experience in business right from his teenage. His forte as an entrepreneur lies in his innovativeness and his sound strategy development cum execution. He has been an accredited consultant/associate to a public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Commerce, Government of India since 1995.He has been a nodal consultant for the above PSU to steer CARE & USAID projects for monetization of the aid by way of vegetable oils from Canada & USA . Combining his degrees in Commerce & Law with his deep passion towards social & public causes he has actively contributed to the society via many NGOs in the field of Education, Health and public governance.
Chanda Neeraj Kathuria
Chanda has a Masters in Commerce and a Diploma in Higher Education from the University of Mumbai and MBA in International Business from the ICFAI. She has been a full time faculty at R.A.Podar College for last 26 years and has authored various books on ‘Organisation of Commerce and Management’ . She has also been a visiting faculty at Welingkar Institute of Management and a Director in an IT company. She combines her expertise in the field of education along with her passion and commitment to bring about social change in India. She has amazing initiative , drive and a strong sense of service to help the needy. Hence going to Nagappattinam (Tamil Nadu, India ) to help Tsunami affected people, raising funds for the medical treatment of poor, organising free education for needy students, counselling students for their career or for overcoming their personal problems has come naturally to her.
Dr. Srikrishna Solgudu Ramachandra
Srikrishna has an MD (Community Medicine) from St. John’s Medical College, Bangalore, and an MPH from Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine, New Orleans, USA. He is also currently pursuing a PhD at the School of Health and Social Development, Deakin University, Melbourne, Australia. Being an epidemiologist and a public health physician, he has around ten years of experience in clinical and preventive work related to Public Health. Prior to working with PHFI, he has worked with agencies like UNICEF, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Family Health International and Canadian International Development Agency.

Dr. Janhavi Raut
Janhavi is currently the Principal Research Scientist at Unilever reseacrh-India. She has previously worked as a visiting professor at the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. She has completed her B.Tech(Chemical Engg.) from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay and has a M.S.(Chemical Eng.) and Ph.D.(Chemical Eng.) from the Pennsylvania State University.
Dr. Shailesh J. Kore
With MBBS, MD, DNB, MNAMS, FCPS, DGO, DFP, DICOG, MICOG; Dr. Kore is working as Associate Professor, at Lokmanya Tilak Municipal Medical College and General Hospital (Sion) in Mumbai. He is running a recognized Fetal Medicine Centre& Genetic Clinic in the hospital for last 10 years. Dr. Kore is a recognized postgraduate teacher for Mumbai University and MUHS (MD, DGO), College of Physicians and Surgeons (DGO, FCPS, DFP) and National Board (DNB). He is also an Examiner/ Convener/ Paper setter for MBBS, DGO, MD, for Mumbai University, MUHS, Gujrat , Saurashtra & other universities in India along with being member of panel of paper setters for postgraduate MH-CET. Dr. Kore is an active member of MOGS and FOGSI. He has delivered more than 40 Invited Guest lectures/ Presentations at various conferences, seminar at local, state & national level. Additionally he has presented more than 20 scientific free papers, many of them winning prizes at various conferences, seminar at local, state & national level. Dr. Kore has more than 80 scientific publications in various Journals and contributed many chapters in various books on Obstetrics, Fetal Medicine and Ultrasonography.
Dr. Shanti Pantvaidya
Dr Shanti Pantvaidya, MD, DA. She was a medical teacher for 35 years and served as Professor and Head of Anaesthesiology Services at LTMG Hospital for 20 years, where she was instrumental in establishing and coordinating the Emergency Medical Services at LTMG Hospital. She has been a Project Coordinator at SNEHA, looking at standardizing and implementing clinical maternal and newborn services in public hospitals through the City Initiative for Newborn Health project. She is currently a trustee for SNEHA and ARMMAN and also a consultant for the Sure Start project of PATH International and SNEHA in Mumbai.
Dr. Dayashankar R. Maurya
Dayashankar is currently completing in Health Policy at National University of Singapore. He also has masters degree in Public Policy and a MBA in Health Management. He has over five years experience of working in public health . He has worked with International NGO’s and UN agencies in India , Thailand and Cambodia.
He has experience of working in HIV, Maternal and Child Health and Reproductive Health.His research interests include private sector participation in health care and health systems research.
